BIG big news this week, people! The hubs and I have decided to move to a new apartment!
As most of you can probably relate, moving is stressful, emotional, and lot of freaking work. BUT, moving is also a great opportunity to refresh, simplify, and reevaluate your wants vs. needs.
So, for the next few weeks, please bear with me as these huge life changes are underway. I promise to make this experience positive for my family, and for you, my loyal readers…which brings me to the next part of my big announcement. The move has also organically created a fabulous opportunity for a new series here at fabhousewife.com, which I have decided to call Apartment to Home {apt –> HOME}. Every week, I will showcase ways to turn a small and/or temporary space into something warm and homelike. From space-saving tricks, to making the most of your outdoor space, my new apartment will be our blank canvas! I can’t wait to get started, and have already begun scouring my favorite decor blogs for image inspiration!
For this series to work, I will most certainly need your help along the way! If you have any post ideas or questions you’ve been dying to ask, send them my way! I hope these posts can become something that will teach and inspire you for your own homes!

Hi Hawls!
Congratulations on your site this KD lady is an avid reader. I have a question on decorating. We recently bought this table from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40134347/ that we plan to use as an office desk instead of a dining table. Other than the typical magazines, newspapers etc. What do you recommend we showcase?

Hi Mariana, Thanks for your comment and for reading!!
That is a great table/desk find, and I love that it’s a dining table, because that means you’ll have tons of desktop space. If it were me, I would use the shelf as an inspiration board or shadow box of sorts. I’d fill it with photos, and items that inspire me, like magazine images, fabric swatches, trinkets from travels, sea shells, quotes, dried or silk flowers. When you’re bored, stuck, or just over work in general, you can recharge by looking down at all those things that make you happy, feel relaxed, bring back fond memories, etc. Good luck, and send me pictures when you’re done!
