Adore Decor Moroccan Rugs

When I first saw this Glitter Guide feature about the home of Erika Brechtel of  Small Shop Studio, I fell completely head over heels for her vintage Beni Ourain Moroccan rug from Moroccan Maryam.

Finding an area rug is always a challenge for me. I tend to over-think it- lusting after rugs with interesting colors and patterns and that pack a punch, but then opting for something boring, plain and neutral. I think I’m too afraid of getting the rug in the house, then finding it to be too much of a commitment. Like the pattern is too busy, or that the whole look is mis-matched.

My favorite Moroccan rugs are anything but boring. Their clean lines and neutral colors  are easily blend with other decor schemes and still manage to be interesting, unique and stylish. For a while, you could find them in small online import shops, but now they’re becoming more and more mainstream. This Spring, home decor chain West Elm is featuring a new Moroccan collection, including their own authentic berber Moroccan rugs, handwoven by the Beni Ouarain tribes. Though the prices aren’t really any different from the smaller shops, this does mean the rugs are now more accessible here in the U.S.
