Drugstore Beauty Products I Swear By
You get what you pay for
. We’re trained to believe that statement, which is why so many beauty product companies can spout their false claims, jack up their pricetag, and still make a killing.

I say, don’t believe the hype. Some of my very favorite products- products I swear by and can’t live without, even- can be found at the drugstore, at a bargain. Sure, there are certain items that should be considered “investment pieces,” but that’s a whole different post. Today I’d like to share just a select few of my favorite beauty products, pulled straight from my medicine cabinet:

Best of {Bargain} Beauty

1) St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Scrub, $6

My very favorite exfoliant EVER! This stuff is gentle on sensitive skin, yet grainy enough to actually feel like it’s working. The green tea is very calming if your skin is agitated or blemished, and I just love, love, love the smell!

2) Neutrogena Ultra-Soft Eye Makeup Remover Pads, $6

You know those nights when you’re so incredibly exhausted after a long day that you actually consider sleeping in your makeup? Or maybe you’re like me and “those nights” is more like every night? Well, then this is the product for you! Removes stuck-on eye makeup (even waterproof mascara) easily, without having to rub your eyes raw. Added bonus- convenient for travel!

3) Sally Hansen Brush-On Hair Remover, $6

Newsflash: Ladies don’t have mustaches. Sadly, even as I type this, I know it isn’t true. I wish it were true. A more accurate statement would be ladies shouldn’t have mustaches. That’s why I use this brush on hair-remover. It’s my deepest, darkest beauty secret. Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone! Waxing damages your skin’s elasticity, and both waxing and threading give me irritation bumps. This is the only that’s side-effect-free.

4) Olay Total Effects Firming Night Cream, $16

Olay night cream might as well be the fountain of youth and beauty. Okay, so that may be arguable, but it is, without a doubt, one of the best skin care values on the market. They get rave reviews and fly off the shelves. I’ve tried both the Regenerist and Total Effects lines, and don’t have a negative thing to say about either of them. Some complain about how thick they are, but I think that’s how a night cream should be. The best defense against lines and wrinkles is moisture, after all. Others complain about the smell, I like it. So does the hubs, and he’s a tough critic when it comes to gooey stuff on my face when he leans in for kisses. But the best proof that this stuff is legit, are all the compliments I’ve been geting since I started using it, on how great my skin looks. What more do you need?

5) Physicians Formula Conceal RX, $8

Sure, true beauty is in the flaws, and blah blah blah. But there are certain flaws I’d much prefer to conceal. Like pimples and dark circles. Tell me truly, where is the beauty in those things? That’s why I like Physicians formula concealer. Whereas certain concealers are designed to cover dark circles, and other designed for pimples and scars, etc, this bad boy is a one-stop-shop. I also like that it goes on smooth and doesn’t smudge or wear off throughout the day.

6) Face Brush, $56-$120

Okay, so this is a little pricier, but I think every woman should own one. It works like an electric toothbrush, cleansing your skin to depths no washcloth could ever reach. It kills bacteria, clears dirt from deep inside your pores, and exfoliates. All of this minimizes breakouts, refinishes skin texture, and eliminates fine lines. I use the DermaNew brush (for the microderm possibilities), though I’ve heard countless praises for the Clarisonic system. Get one…like yesterday.

    I needed this!! Thanks!

I have been wondering about those face brushes…my skin looks terrible after being pregnant and exhausted all of the time.

I have the Clarisonic System, it is amazing. I use it after I have a special event where I wear more makeup than usual and I always feel refreshed after using it. Thanks for posting this Hawlie!
