Happy hump day Fab Housewives! I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking we could all use a little pick-me-up this mid-week, so I’ve decided to share some exciting news!
Last week, I was accepted into the interior design program at The Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising, or more commonly known as FIDM! I’ve already begun classes, studying everything from sketching and technical drawing, to design process and history of architecture and interior design. I’ve been so in my element these past few days, I can’t even tell you how excited I am!
The decision to go back to school was an unexpected one. I’ve been feeling myself slipping into an uninspired lull over the past several weeks. Or, For lack of a better word, I’ve been bored. Since boredom is absolutely no way to live life, I knew I needed to make a big change, and fast. It took lots of soul-searching and deep convos with the hubs (the man deserves an award, he’s such a sport) to finally figure out what that change needed to be.
Turns out, I subconsciously always knew I wanted to study interior design, I’ve just been writing it off as hobby instead of a career. In fact, I owe much of my decision to you all; through the DIY projects and design inspiration posts I’ve been sharing with you here at fabhousewife.com, I discovered a passion and flair for designing and creating a home. For years, a little voice in my head has been nagging me to go to design school. I just finally decided to listen to her!
So here I am making my dreams come true, even though I haven’t stepped foot in a classroom in over 6 years. It’s scary, thrilling, and completely and utterly empowering, all of which are feelings that I’d like to share with you, my fabulous readers. To celebrate my entry into the world of interior design as a profession, I’ve partnered with Lewis & Sheron Textiles to offer a fantastic giveaway opportunity so you can make your own DIY dreams come true! The winner of the Dreams Come True Giveaway will receive a $100 gift card to spend any way you like at Lewis & Sheron Textiles. It’s your chance to get inspired, save yourself from boring window coverings, seat cushions, throw pillows, or bedding. Really, the sky is the limit, and based on the extensive selection of fabrics and trimmings at Lewis & Sheron, I know whatever you decide to make will be beautiful.
Here’s How to Enter

Good Luck!

I would LOVE to win this contest and make some fab throw pillows for my living room, the boyfriend recently agreed to let me purchase fun brightly colored ones, but alas they are very scratchy and he is rethinking his decision to let me continue down the path of total home renovation. Save me Fab Housewife, you’re my only hope!!
I would love to make curtains. I just bought my first house ( :) ) and I would love to be able to make it a warm, welcoming home.
Such gorgeous fabric! We just finished making our TashmaTiki….aka addition off of our lanai with Tiki inspired look and the Tashma stands for Tashmahal cause it took us so long to build lol. I even made it a place on FB! I am drying bamboo poles out of my garden for rods and would love to make some outdoor curtains to spice it up and add a gorgeous finishing touch! How Fun!
I loev all of the fabrics. I have no idea which one I would choose…
I would like to recover a glider I got free from a friend for my baby’s room! It needs to be a girly fun print since I am totally indulging in the glitz a little baby girl brings to a house full of boys!
I would make some throw pillows for my new bedroom!
I am in fabric heaven looking at Lewis and Sheron’s site. There are so many projects around our new to us house that I would love to take on! My husband and I recently moved into a larger home to accommodate our growing family and well, I’ve got my work cut out for me! I recently have become a stay at home mom to our two wonderful daughters and have immersed myself in DIY projects to save money. Curtains, pillows, wall art, how do I choose just one project to highlight?! Thank you for this opportunity to potentially score some amazing fabric!
I like you and Lewis & Sheron on Facebook (Michelle Hudak)
I adore the Beaudelaire fabric, I’d love to make tab-top valances for my kitchen. I love the French design and the “De Provence” lettering and I think it would pair perfectly with my little fat French chefs decor.
