In case you haven’t received the memo, chalkboards are the rage these days. This candle, for example, was a fabulous birthday gift from a girlfriend, and it’s been so much fun! But here’s the best news: you can also buy chalkboard paint, which comes in both spray and in-the-can, brush-it-on forms. That means just about anything can be easily turned into a chalkboard. I’ve been resisting the urge to buy the paint for months. Mostly because I feared my innocent desire to turn a picture frame into a chalkboard would get so out of hand, the hubs would come home to find floor to ceiling chalkboard walls “creatively” scribbled with all my “art.” And yes, it is possible to paint real walls in your home with this stuff. It’s being done in thousands of baby nurseries all across America right at this very moment. I KNOOOOWWW! SO EXCITING!!!
Last week I decided I’d built up enough self-control to give this whole chalkboard thing a go. I bought a spray can. Just one. My projects are small, so as not to rouse a sleeping beast. The paint goes on smoothly, and when it’s dry, it’s easy to write on and wipe off, if you mess up. So fun! Here are some of the things I’ve been creating with chalkboard paint:
