This past weekend, J.P. and I helped two friends celebrate their engagement at an intimate beach-themed soiree. Our friend Lauren hosted the affair in the backyard of her quaint Manhattan Beach bungalow, where dozens of friends, many of whom flew in for the event, congregated together to toast the happy couple. I wish I could take credit for all the little details, because Lauren did the most amazing job of coming up with creative ways to incorporate her theme into everything from the centerpieces, to the food. I did help with the set-up however, and thus saw how the whole event came together:
Decorating for a Beach Themed Engagement Party
Inexpenisve DIY Centerpieces: All flowers for the party were purchased at Trader Joe’s. Sand for the centerpieces was collected at the beach. To create the look, first arrange tulips is a clear glass cylindrical vase filled with water. Place the vase inside a larger, clear square vase and fill with sand. Hurricane vases with pillar candles created a soft glow. Starfish and Sea shells scattered randomly across tables topped off the look.
This beautiful peony arrangement was set at the welcome table, along with custom photo confetti of the couple. For this look, arrange flowers into a small bouquet, and secure with a rubber band or twist-tie. Fill bottom of vase with neutral-colored stones before adding water and lemons to fill the vase. Insert the flowers last, adding more lemons as needed to hold bouquet in place.
One of my favorite details- mismatched beach chairs, gave the yard an eclectic charm, while scattered string lights and candles, even a bonfire, gave off a romantic aura.
Two bars came complete with monogrammed napkins and color-coordinating (pink) signature cocktails with gold-sugar rims.
The appetizer-portioned meal included miniature sliders, paper cones filled with fries and sweet potato fries, fresh fruit skewers, and pasta salad.
For dessert- cupcakes! These sweet treats were also monogrammed and set out on a lovely display.
Kudos to Lauren on her incredibly successful party, and congratulations to the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Malkin! Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of it!
