With Halloween behind us, it’s time to focus on Thanksgiving, which also happens to be my 2nd favorite holiday! The hubs and I have decided to forgo the 6 hour drive to Arizona to be with family this year, and celebrate on our own in L.A. It may just be the two of us, but I think it’s the perfect time to start creating some of our own family traditions. Fun Fact: the hubs proposed to me over Thanksgiving weekend back in 2007, which makes the holiday all the more special for me.
We are planning to host an intimate dinner with friends, and I am already plotting a glamorous looking fall table setting, complete with DIY details. Here’s a sneak peek at what I’m working on:
What are your favorite Thanksgiving traditions? I’d love to hear about them!

Dear Hawlie–
Congratulations on the four year anniversary of the proposal!
My family of 3 started a new Thanksgiving tradition this year. For the last couple of weeks, we have each taken turns writing down something we are thankful for on a little stub of paper that we collect in a glass jar every time we sit down at the table for a meal. On Thanksgiving, we are going to read all of them to each other while we celebrate over dinner.
Keep Writing! I discovered your blog today, and you have INSPIRED me!

Laura,
What a great tradition!! Little reminders of all our blessings is such a great way to keep things into perspective. I also love how it encourages interaction during family meal time (something that’s VERY under-rated these days). Thank you so much for sharing, and I look forward to reading your blog!
