Happy Friday everyone! If you find yourself with some free time this weekend, I suggest joining my favorite girlfriends and I for The Dirty Book Club’s (DBC) January book selection: What Alice Forgot, a novel by Alice Moriarty. The girls and I started the DBC a couple years ago, but we tapered off over the past few months.  We’ve decided to start up fresh again in 2012! We expect What Alice Forgot to be a light, enjoyable read, but chalk full of the juicy drama we love so much.

Alice Love is twenty-nine years old, madly in love with her husband, and pregnant with their first child. So imagine her surprise when, after a fall, she comes to on the floor of a gym (a gym! she HATES the gym!) and discovers that she’s actually thirty-nine, has three children, and is in the midst of an acrimonious divorce. 

A knock on the head has misplaced ten years of her life, and Alice isn’t sure she likes who she’s become. It turns out, though, that forgetting might be the most memorable thing that has ever happened to Alice. 

Intriguing, right? I think so, especially since so many of my friends are at that idealistic stage in our lives. We’re where Alice is before she loses her memory. The summary implies our heroine will be forced to face the obstacles and answer some of the questions we’re too afraid to even comprehend in our current love lives. I’m excited to see what kind of discussion we come up with at our official DBC meeting later in January!
